As a beginner in Tarot Card Reading it can be very intimidating to choose the right tarot deck. There are literally hundreds of Tarot Deck out in the market with their own symbolism, energy, stories etc. In my opinion the best deck is the universally accepted Rider Waite Tarot Deck. All the Tarot readers in the world start their journey with this pack of cards. Why this deck? The majority of information in Tarot books and resources online are based on the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck and system. If you work with a few of these or other Rider Waite Smith based decks, you will learn the meanings faster and be able to see how each cards connect, visually and in their meaning.I use the Rider-Waite for teaching Tarot and reading Tarot professionally.Sometimes, however, I like to change things up, depending on the client and the question asked, and may dip into my Tarot deck collection. The deck was conceived by Arthur Edward Waite and the pictures designed by Pamela Coleman Smith. This is my everyday Tarot deck. I still use my 2 year old deck for readings. I have a lot of other decks too. One of my other favourite is The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans and The Illuminati Tarot by Erik C Dunne.
As I said this is my opinion and it does not stop you from learning from any other deck. Choose the deck that speaks to you.The most important thing when it comes to choosing your first deck is to resonate with it and the images. So go ahead take the plunge in the mystic world of tarot.
